Hobart's Centennial Centre district already lets you do a full round of errands. You can buy coffee, get the car washed, pick up subs, have a nail appointment, drop the car off for service and stay for weekend breakfast without leaving it. What it doesn't have yet is a public indoor room where neighbors can meet without buying something. That room is the pavilion planned for Sorenson Family Park. In July 2026 the Village Board approved a contract for architectural drawings of that pavilion. No construction date has been announced in the coverage reviewed for this post.
The order matters for anyone deciding where to spend a Saturday morning or which construction fence to keep an eye on. Private businesses arrived first, then housing, then a bank. The civic pieces are moving on a much slower schedule.
The Errand Loop Is Already Here
The businesses below form the district's working core today. Most of them sit along a few streets: Founders Terrace, Larsen Orchard Parkway, Centennial Centre Boulevard and Centerline Drive.
| Stop | Address | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| D2 Sports Pub | 530 Larsen Orchard Parkway | Pub with weekend breakfast and a Tuesday game night |
| Scott's Subs | 550 Centennial Centre Blvd. | Sub shop with scheduled online pickup |
| The Wash Shack | Folkman Plaza, 4999 Founders Terrace | Car wash with single washes and monthly memberships |
| Wisco Sips | Folkman Plaza area, Founders Terrace | Drive-through coffee |
| VIP Nail Lounge | Folkman Plaza, Suite 3 | Nail salon with online booking |
| Auto Aces | 611 Centerline Drive | 10-bay auto service center |
| Jan Wos Park | 777 Centennial Centre Blvd. | Covered pavilion, playground, swings, picnic tables |
D2's Hobart page lists weekend breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. and Tuesday Singo at 7 p.m. That makes it the district's best-documented option for both morning and evening. Scott's Subs lists its Hobart shop at 550 Centennial Centre Blvd., with weekly hours and a Hobart ordering link.
Folkman Plaza on Founders Terrace is the densest cluster. The Wash Shack was the plaza's first business to open to customers in spring 2025. WFRV's coverage of the ribbon cutting called the site home to Wisconsin's longest car wash. Wisco Sips opened its Hobart drive-through in late October 2025, according to FOX 11. Bayland Buildings reported VIP Nail Lounge's grand opening at the plaza that November. Hobart Backyard also advertises weekly rotating food trucks at the Wash Shack. The listing doesn't name the vendors, so check before you go.
Auto Aces is the newest arrival. It held a grand opening on July 23, 2026, and began operating on August 3 in an 8,400-square-foot building with 10 service bays. Owner Brian Buck told The Business News the shop moved from a Green Bay location and had kept a nearly full schedule since opening.
Look at what that list covers. Every business on it handles a weekly or monthly task: fuel for the morning, a clean car, lunch, maintenance. A district whose first tenants are a car wash and an auto shop is built around people who live close enough to come back often.
The Apartments Raised the Stakes
Larsen Orchard Terrace, at 582 Larsen Orchard Parkway, changed the district's math. The four-story, 66-unit building opened to tenants in April 2026 and held its ribbon cutting on June 18. FOX 11 reported that about 40% of the units were leased at that point. The Green Bay Press-Gazette described it as a $16.5 million mixed-use development.
The phrase "mixed-use" deserves a closer look. The building includes four commercial tenant spaces, but none of the 2026 coverage names a business in them. Nearby at 633 Larsen Orchard Parkway, construction on a 12,000-square-foot multi-tenant retail center began in 2025, with completion expected by summer 2026. Bayland Buildings, the builder, named no tenants when it announced the project. We found no published tenant names for that building.
Together, those two buildings hold the district's unnamed storefront space, and that is where future openings have room to land. Bayland CEO Chad Calmes has said a possible second apartment phase could start in 2027, depending on demand and how the site is used.
One more sign the existing businesses are growing: the Village's September 11 newsletter listed a parking-lot expansion at 530 Larsen Orchard Parkway for Site Review Committee consideration. That is the address D2 Sports Pub lists. The newsletter didn't report a decision.
The Bank Is the Next Building to Open
Stephenson National Bank & Trust scheduled its groundbreaking for Wednesday, September 16, 2026. The Village's September 18 newsletter congratulated the bank and Bayland Buildings on the ceremony. The branch is going up at 575 Centerline Drive, on the same street as Auto Aces. Bayland's project page lists a 4,310-square-foot building with private offices, a conference room, teller space, a lobby and drive-up service. The bank expects to open in spring 2027, so the frame going up now is the only construction in the district with a public opening target.
A bank branch is one more errand stop. Even the district's next confirmed opening extends the same pattern of daily convenience.
The Room Hobart Hasn't Built Yet
The public side of Centennial Centre is moving at a different pace. In March 2026, Hobart's Parks and Recreation Committee considered creating Sorenson Family Park on Village-owned land in Tax Increment District #1. The proposal called for an enclosed pavilion, public restrooms, walking trails, outdoor grills and benches, and the committee recommended that the Village Board move forward.
On July 21, 2026, the Board approved hiring Bayland Buildings to draw the pavilion. The plan includes indoor and outdoor gathering areas, restrooms and a storage room. It also includes an indoor display of the Sorenson family tractor, which recognizes the property's agricultural history. The newsletter that reported the vote didn't give a construction or opening date.
Until that pavilion exists, Jan Wos Park at 777 Centennial Centre Boulevard is the district's public outdoor space. It has a covered pavilion, picnic tables, swings, a playground and open lawn. The Sorenson design adds what Jan Wos doesn't have: an indoor room and public restrooms, which would make the space usable in a Brown County winter.
The district's footprint may also grow. The Village Board scheduled a public hearing for Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at 6 p.m. at the Village Office, 2990 South Pine Tree Road. The hearing covers rezoning the parcel at 4941 N. Overland Road from agricultural use to the Centennial Centre at Hobart planned district. The Board plans to take public comment and vote at the meeting right after the hearing. Hearing materials are posted on the Village website and available at the Village Office. As of this writing, the rezoning is pending.
Town Hall Is Heading to West Adam Drive
If you've assumed Hobart's new municipal center would become Centennial Centre's civic anchor, it won't. The proposed Hobart Municipal Center is planned for the former Joe DeNoble Sewer & Water Construction property on West Adam Drive. That site is roughly eight acres with four buildings. The project would bring the police station, Village offices and eventually Public Works together in one place. The planned municipal office includes a multipurpose room for board meetings, elections and community events.
The Board adopted a project timeline on January 20, 2026. The timeline notes that its dates could change:
- A request for proposals for design and construction management goes out by December 31, 2026.
- A project firm is recommended by June 30, 2027.
- Final design and bidding are due by April 1, 2028.
- Financing and groundbreaking follow in summer 2028.
- Completion is scheduled for early 2029.
This makes the Sorenson pavilion more significant. Village offices and their meeting room are moving across town, so the pavilion is the one public building planned inside Centennial Centre itself.
Getting There Through October
Through October, the commercial core may take some extra planning to reach. Brown County is rebuilding the four-way stop at Packerland Drive and Grant Street as a roundabout, and that intersection is scheduled to stay closed from August 10 through October 30, 2026. Posted detours apply. Check Brown County's traffic notices before counting on that date, because road schedules can slip.
The bank's spring 2027 opening is the next firm date on Centennial Centre's calendar. The Sorenson Family Park pavilion is the next public space, but it doesn't have an announced date yet.
